“How much do you charge for a sleeve?”

How much is a bag of groceries? It really depends on what’s in there, doesn’t it? Tattoo pricing is only done in person. Keeping with the bag-of-groceries analogy, I’d need to know your dietary needs, how much food you need, what you’re in the mood for, what you don’t like and a plethora of other factors that would determine the final cost. Schedule an in-person consultation for a proper quote.

Where exactly is the shop?

Our space - classy/clean/minimal - is located inside the majestic OFF THE WALLS ARTS Artist Collective at 360 Walnut St. Our space is private, comfortable and not shared with any of the other artists who have offices there. Our dedicated entrance opens directly onto Walnut St. (it’s the one-eighty event space double door).

What is your availability like

I work at all times of the day throughout the week, so my schedule is flexible. I’m good at getting my collectors in on time.
My hours are limited on Mondays and Thursdays (currently).

What styles of tattooing do you do?

Martial Arts philosophy comes in handy for this: Style of ‘no-style’. In a nutshell, we are very well-rounded in all styles of tattooing in order that we may simply shift the discussion to “how may we serve you?” Having said that, Dorje enjoys portraiture, tribal and Neo-tribal, and blackwork. YOU are the main priority in our shop, keep that in mind ;-)

What is the Shop code of conduct?

Just be you. Just be cool. Receive and participate. That’s all.
Dorje: in my belief, a tattoo/tatau temple is a forum for the unbridling of mind. Tatau is a coming of age and a shift in thinking. Metamorphosis. Come, be present, be honest and respectful and ENJOY.

How do I take care of my tattoo?

Tattoo before-care and after-care are crucial factors in the tattoo process. Check out our page dedicated to Care.

Shop Etiquette

We work diligently to provide a comfortable, elevated, proper tattoo experience at AREA. We encourage our collectors to come as they are and to be at home in our sacred space - under the condition that the space is treated as s a c r e d. That comes with some simple house rules.

  1. Follow the proper channels to schedule your tattoo session. WE ARE NOT A WALK-IN SHOP (currently). That’s not to say we don’t sometimes have those types of openings - we do - but it is best to use the online form to reach us. We are virtually always available; we are always aware of incoming queries. CLICK HERE TO SCHEDULE!

  2. Please be on time to your appointment. We are a small business with what is turning into a crammed workload; we don’t want to work around unnecessary error. We’re communicative and instructive and usually everything is pretty easy-peasy. In the event you’re late, we’ll make every attempt to reach you; 15 minutes no call, no show and we terminate or reschedule the session. Just so it’s clear: we reserve the right to work with whom we want, when we want; if conditions arise that require modifications to the session, whatever they may be, we will do so. Just like anybody anywhere doing business :-)

  3. We manifest and maintain a positive environment in and around the shop. We will ask that you leave negative, stale vibes away from our work area. We want you to have an uplifting, relaxing and memorable experience. It can be quite therapeutic for all parties involved, and we claim the right to only work under those positive conditions. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OFF THE WALLS ARTS AND ITS RESIDENT ARTISTS. WE ARE PART OF A COLLECTIVE WHOM WE CHERISH AND RESPECT.

  4. We have a comfortable waiting area for one (1) plus-one. Please only bring your comfort person and no one else.

  5. Please feel free to bring, within reason, your personal effects (e.g., pillows, hoodie, EarPods, etc.). Though we cannot have food or drinks in our space, we encourage you to bring a personal water bottle and some snacky foods in your bag - the [tattoo laws] are incongruous with the needs of the process (i.e., sometimes a snack will save you from passing out and you always need water, duh).

  6. Tip Your Artist - We are a traditional tattoo shop with a heritage of practices many decades in the making. It is customary for the artist to give you the best of their ability, raising their focus to peak performance for hours, invoking every ounce of their hard-earned knowhow - every. single. time. It is likewise customary to show appreciation for this effort. In essence, this is a karmic exchange, use it to your spiritual advantage. In this way, our bond deepens. And we are grateful.

  7. If something happens that may affect your upcoming session. please let us know ahead of time. Don’t show up with a cataclysmic sunburn the day of your tattoo. HAIYA!!

  8. Please give us at least 24-hours notice if you need to reschedule your appointment.

  9. Please arrive fresh and clean. Don’t shave the area of your tattoo, we need to do that for sanitary reasons.

  10. Please don’t take long phone calls during your session. It is very difficult to focus on the art when you’re on the fucking phone. Thanks.
